which were grant-funded b the Australian Government through AUSAID . Visits are
now planned to the other projects in Central , Morobe and Milne Bay . On
Friday 18th February , we opened the new Coconut Oil and
processing Plant in Kavieng . Local company , Emirau Marine Products
matched a grant of approx AUD900,000 to establish the plant which will be
in full production in 5-6 weeks . As well as oil , the plant will produce a
variety of by products such as cooking oil , industrial soap , rope,
Virgin Oil , matting and vinegar . The event received excellent publicity
(see Post Courier P21 , Monday 21st) . Australian High Commissioner ,

presence of New Ireland Governor , Sir Julius Chan .The plant will be a boon for
the growers in New Ireland , and will provide a ready market place for all
of NIP coconut production .
