Alan has over 37 years of experience in the aviation industry in areas of operations, regulatory and strategic management. He has been with Qantas Group in the last five (5) years predominantly in the Engineering structure. His tenure in the Group included the roles of Head of the 747 Fleet Manager, Head of the Maintenance Control Centre, Head of the Airline Operations Centre and Head of Engineering. Alan is a reformer having developed, implemented and managed major programs including the transition to the new Australian airworthiness and maintenance regulations and the largest transformation program in the $2 billion cost-out program in 2015 (the fuel efficiency program). Alan led the crisis response team during the Airbus A380 QF32 engine failure in Singapore, the Icelandic volcanic eruption and the grounding of the Qantas fleet during the industrial dispute in 2011. He is a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and a graduate in Bachelor of Technology from Deakin University; a Master of Business and Technology from the University of New South Wales and holds a Private Pilot's license.
